8.25 Ffos Las
A mile on soft ground is the order of the evening, and a handicap that is anything but soft.
Again, the three year olds get a healthy weight concession from their older counterparts, meaning the two highest rated horses are almost bottom weights here.
In truth, both of their trainers have fine records at the track, and Cathedral could well improve for the drop back in trip.
But I’m siding with David Simcock, the top trainer at the track, with ten wins from thirty starters, to ice his cake still further. He has just the one runner tonight, Andalieb, and this chap ticks a lot of boxes.
First, he’s won over a mile. Second, he’s won over a mile on soft ground. Third, it was last time out and he’s clearly improving; and fourth, it was on a pretty similar track: Doncaster.
There are others who can give him a race, but none with the proven ability to handle the precise conditions of this affair.
