I’m afraid we’re not getting much of a run for our money at the moment, as Mad George led at a sedentary pace before stopping to nothing. I need to go with a horse more ‘tried and trusted’ to hopefully regain the winning thread, and I think I might have found just such a fellow in the…
4.55 Ffos Las
Ffos Las is establishing itself as a bit of a ‘horses for courses’ track, and one who fits the bill perfectly is Evan Williams’ West With The Wind.
The seven-year-old has been a revelation since being popped over a fence, winning six of his fourteen chase starts and placing another five times.
Here at Ffos Las, his form figures are 1111314, and over fences 11114. Those wins include two at this class level, specifically the last two renewals of this race! That ‘4’ on the scorecard was on heavy ground, which is far from what WWTW wants. Today’s good to soft is at the soggy limit of his requirements, and any drying will help.
Eight of his ten career wins were in single figure fields, and it’s hard to find any chinks in his armour in the context of this race. Of course, he faces talented rivals but none are better suited to today’s conditions.
4/1 BOG is good for me, and I’m on win only.
