Stat of the Day, 2nd September 2012
It was a case of close, but no cigar yesterday as Clinical finished 5th at 9/1. She ran her race and was in contention for at least a place, but didn’t have the necessary change in gear to keep up with the leaders. 3.30 Folkestone
Today’s race is for 3 yr olds and over, and at the ripe old age of 11, our seasoned veteran Efistorm certainly fits the bill. A veteran of 127 career races, this old warhorse has proven best on turf, boasting a strike rate of 27% (18 from 67) and a place strike rate of 48%. He also has an excellent record over today’s 6f trip: winning 7 times and placing a further 5 times from 22 attempts.
He has, however, only competed at Folkestone on five occasions in his long career, but his record here is equally impressive, if not more so, as it reads 12112 (2112 over C&D). Efistorm loves the course and the trip, he’s in decent enough form: 10 wins since last April (2011) and he won this race off a stiffer mark last year. When I wrote this piece (just before 2am!), I was pleasantly surprised to see bet365 offering 12/1 about our selection, so it’s 0.5pts E/W at 12/1 BOG for me, but you should…
