Stat of the Day, 26th October
Computer seriously not working this morning so very basic text functions only as I take over from Chris.
No run at all from his outsider yesterday, and we go to war today up at Doncaster on the first day of their Racing Post Trophy meeting, in the…
Class is a really under-rated aspect in racing, and most horses have a class ceiling, beyond which they are unable to compete successfully.
Of course, this is not always as blatant as with today’s SotD pick, Mistress of Rome.
This lass has run ten times in Class 5, today’s class, and she’s made the frame on nine occasions!
Good news has to be tinged with not so good news, as her win e strike rate during that time is a mere one in ten… That means we’ve a great chance of making the frame but perhaps are less likely to win.
However, Mistress of Rome has a lot more in her favour. Her track record on oday’s soft surface is 3113.
At today’s trip, she’s 2332, and she was a good second at Doncaster on her only race at the track, when the ground might have been quicker than ideal for her.
If you overlook her last start, when really heavy ground got the better of her (and most others), she’s a fine each way chance, and 8/1 is good win/place value.
