And still SotD’s ‘binary January’ continues, after an inspired strong-arm ride from Graham Gibbons hauled Desert Vision back to the front after looking beaten 100 yards out. Great job, and a 4/1 SP winner recommended at 6/1 (R4 brought that down to 4.6/1).

Very little to go at today, due to the snow, but over in Ireland they’re confident of racing, so we’ll head for the…
Another really competitive looking race here, and I’m siding with course consistency once more (well, it worked for us yesterday), in the shape of Akasaka, a seven times Dundalk distance runner.
In those seven runs at tonight’s mile trip, our boy has recorded figures of 1329132. He’s also had a few goes at a mile and three furlongs here, with 1052 as his string there.
Obviously, consistency pays its price with the ‘capper, and Akasaka will race off top weight tonight, although I J Brennan takes off three pounds, meaning he’s effectively racing off the same mark as when just bested by the improving Captain Joy (fourth won since).
Trap nine is not ideal, but not terrible either, for this prominent racer, and his pilot should bounce him out and have him ‘close enough if good enough’. That’s all we can ask for there.
Trainer Ed Lynam is in fine form too, with five of his last seven Dundalk runners making the frame, at nice odds too (including 20/1, 12/1 and 7/1), so all looks set fair for a decent run.
6/1 is the best available, with BetFred offering BOG as well, so we’ll go with that, each way the chicken’s route again. As ever, you can…
