Stat of the Day, 16th March 2013
There is very little in the way of positivity that I can say about last night’s selection, so it’s definitely a case of the less said, the better!
So, we’ll move straight on to Staffordshire for Saturday and a four-runner Chase contest over three miles. The going is set to be heavy for this Class 3 contest aka the…
It’s a case of horses for courses today, as we look at this quirky provincial track, one I visit quite regularly myself.
So, to cut to the chase (please excuse the pun), we’re backing Grouse Lodge.
everyone knows what a potent force the Donald McCain / Jason Maguire can be and they team up on this one today. As for the horse itself, the bare stats show a career form line of 11141131, that’s an excellent 75% win strike rate, enabling its followers to almost double their money via 6.8pts profit.
He’s 2/2 here at Uttoxeter, he has secured two wins from three on heavy ground and he’s 1/1 over today’s three-mile trip, which was over course and distance here (also on heavy ground) just under three months ago.
He’s 5/6 in small fields (under 7 runners), 2/3 under Jason Maguire and runs very well when turned out again after only a short break. He last ran 23 days ago and his record when reappearing within 4 weeks of his previous run is 4 wins from 5. I could go on and bore you with more stats like he’s 5/7 on left-handed tracks etc etc, but I’ll spare you this morning!
Needless to say, I think that conditions are ideal for him today, but we’re not getting rich off him. The play is a 1pt win bet at 9/4 BOG on Grouse Lodge. This price is on offer pretty much everywhere and represents a slight increase on the 15/8 to 2/1 that I was expecting. To see what your preferred bookie is offering, simply…
