Yesterday started well enough, with our 7/1 selection Sofia’s Number One making all to win the 8.00 race at as SP of 9/2, which essentially meant we’d 87/1 about a 10/1 shot in the following race.

Unfortunately Royal Bajan wasn’t allowed to dictate the race as he’d want to and was stuck in mid-field, eventually coming home in 5th place, some six lengths or so away from landing us a place double. But today is another day, and the weather dictates that it’s Southwell or nothing.

Flow Chart comes here in good form having finished second followwed by two wins in his last three races. He attempts the hat-trick today and is expected to go close, having already secured a course and distance victory in the past. He’s by no means a gimme today, but 9/2 seems to represent decent value if a little short for an E/W bet: I had however expected him to be a 7/2 shot.

3.45 Southwell

Mucky Molly is the selection here. Available at 11/2 in places, can be excused a poor 5th place finish last time out, as she weakened in the last 200 yards. A drop back in trip with the reapplication of the visor in use on her course and distance victory in her penultimate race, should be enough to see her in the frame at the very least.

Today’s offering is less speculative than yesterday, as the double pays 34.75/1 with Paddy Power, who are also best odds guaranteed. The place only part currently pays 3.43/1
