El Libertador was going well yesterday and with two furlongs to go, he looked more than capable of landing a place at an SP of 10/1. Unfortunately, he suddenly found himself being squeezed from both sides and had no room to work with. The jockey had to pull him back and his race was effectively over there and then.
Today we’re going chasing in West Sussex, where our contest is a Class 4 Handicap Chase which will be a good test of stamina for the eight runners tackling three miles, two and a half furlongs on decidedly heavy ground in the…
Today’s selection is the 12 yr old veteran mare Wild Ground. This old lady has proved to be profitable to follow blindly throughout her career, notching seven wins and four places from just 28 attempts. Her 25% win strike rate has benefited her supporters to the tune of 20.4pts at SP, a return of 72.9% POI. She also comes here in good heart/form, she was off the track for almost 22 months, before reappearing at the end of November 2012, when she was pulled up at Taunton on her comeback quite clearly needing a run.
She has run five times since then, returning figures of 11441. However, Fontwell is a quirky track and it always pays to side with horses with form on the track itself, so let’s take a look at her record here.

She will, undoubtedly go off as favourite today, based on that record alone, but I feel that the 100/30 on offer from both Stan James and William Hill still represents reasonable value about Wild Ground, so it’s a straightforward 1pt win bet at 100/30 for me, but please…
