Another close call yesterday, with Count Guido Deiro winning at 4/1 (recommended at 5/1) and Titus Mills finishing third at 5/2 (also nominated at 5/1). The place double paid 3/1, and Titus Mills remains of interest, as he seemed to get outpaced without being asked for his effort, and then ran on well when driven after the last.
Today, I’m taking much more of a chance, starting with the…
Madame Jasmine is the proverbial standing dish here at Plumpton, and she’s an impressively consistent sort. In fact, her record here reads 151212. She’s versatile with regards to trip and ground, and this Class 4 race represents a drop in grade from the Class 2 and 3 races she’s contested on her last two starts.
Although outclassed – and perhaps bogged down – last time, she was good enough to be second in that Class 3 two starts back, and won in today’s class here three runs ago. There are plenty of horses who could get competitive here, but none with more consistency than this lass, and she’s a 12/1 shot.
We’ll pair her with a nag at the same course an hour later in the…
Again, this is a competitive-looking handicap, and a place double today will pay us well. I’m interested in the chance of Goochypoochyprader. Goochy has been in cracking form recently, with two wins and two runners up places in his last quartet of runs. Although a number of his rivals have more scope – this is a novices’ handicap hurdle, after all – none are in better form or more likely to replicate their recent level of form.
He was beaten a nose over course and distance last time on soft ground, and had won over two miles on good to soft the time before. He’s a 5/1 chance.
The win double pays 77/1 with bet365, and is best odds guaranteed. The place double pays 8/1 and that’s nice enough already.
Back Madame Jasmine and Goochypoochyprader in an each way double with bet365 with the win part paying 77/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
