I’ll cut straight to the chase this morning and tell you that I’m backing Banna Boirche today.
This horse will come here fit and fresh today, having had a nice 5-week break from action. Last seen competing in Meydan in far better company than tonight Banna Boirche comes back to Dundalk (and Irish racing!) for the first time since mid-November when he was third (beaten by 1.5 lengths) over eleven furlongs to add yet another place to his impressive Dundalk stats.
To date his record here reads eight wins and five places from just fifteen attempts: his very healthy 53.33% strike rate generating some 28pts (+187%) profit at SP from level stakes. In those 15 races, today’s jockey Shane Foley has been on board on ten occasions: winning six for just over 25pts profit and making the frame a further three times (a 6th at 16/1 being the only blip, but still only 4 lengths behind the winner in a Group 3 contest that day).
At today’s course and 7 furlongs distance, Banna Boirche‘s record is even better, reading 114111 for just under 24pts profit, with Shane Foley being 4/4 inside those six races.
He is top weighted, he will be favourite, but he is also fit and fresh and comes off the back of an excellent 2nd place finish in a far better race at Meydan last time out.
I fully expect this one to be there or thereabouts this evening and I’d expect him to attract some support as the day progresses, so with that in mind, I’m on with a 1pt straight win bet at 7/2 BOG on Banna Boirche.
