Daily Dabble, 6th April 2013
We drew another blank on Friday as both Tahiti Pearl and First Friday ran disappointing races and both failed to place.
I’m off on holiday at 9.00am and I’m hoping to sign off with a couple of decent looking selections in a quick fire double starting with…
Where I’m hoping that it’s finally the day that Kozmina Bay kicks open the door she’s been knocking on for a while. She’s handily priced at 6/1 (BOG Paddy Power) and has looked like she’s been getting ever closer with her last two runs here, finishing 4th and then 3rd. This is a weaker contest than she has seen of late and she has looked like the previous races were too short. She steps up 3 furlongs today and whilst already nicely weighted, has a 5lb claimer on board to ease the burden. Her trainer Bernard Llewellyn is very adept at picking races for his claimer jockeys : over 40pts profit from 135 races in the last 3 years and a near 40% place strike rate.
Hopefully she’ll make the frame, followed almost immediately by the…
Where Tres Coronas looks like the one to beat, he has a good record here at Newcastle with 4 wins and a second from just seven runs, whilst he is 2/2 over C&D. He runs off a fair mark of 76 today (he last won here off 84) and wears a hood for the first time. He won when first wearing blinkers, so if this headgear proves just as effective, we may well have a 5/1 (Bet365) winner.
The win double pays 34/1 with Paddy Power, and is best odds guaranteed, of course. The place double pays 7/2 today.
Back Kozmina Bay and Tres Coronas in an each way double with Paddy Power with the win part paying 34/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
