Daily Dabble, 10th April 2013
No sort of run yesterday, as the favourites ran riot at Carlisle. In truth, that was a typical April showing. This is a time of year when horses are often unfit on the flat, or ‘over the top’ (i.e. knackered) over jumps. As such, punting is even more of a minefield than normal. April and October are the hardest months to make a profit, as they’re the change over months, and many professionals take a break during these spells.
We don’t, and we’ll crack on in the quest for a profit, starting with…
This fellow is a course specialist, with eight runs over this track and trip yielding seven placed efforts. His full form string reads 23123214. Viking Warrior has won in this class three times, off a high rating of 67 in handicaps, and today he races off… 67!
He’s first time out, and was third on seasonal debut last year, and his trainer, Michael Dods, is in good form (three winners from his last five runners). He’s around 5/1.
I’m doubling him up with …
A Listed race over a mile and six furlongs, and Cavaleiro might be a stayer to follow this term. He was third in the Lingfield Derby Trial last year, and finished the season with a close up third in a Listed race over this trip at Ascot on soft ground.
He’s expected to be better on this quicker ground, and there’s been a bit of money for him this morning. Trainer Marcus Tregoning has only had one runner this season so far, and it won. He’s 4/1 today in race which lacks depth.
The double pays 29/1 and the place part will return a smidjun over 5/2.
Back Viking Warrior and Cavaleiro in an each way double with Boylesports with the win part paying 89/2 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
