Daily Dabble, 13th April 2013
We were done up by the April weather yesterday, as forecast good ground became very soft and resulted in more than twenty non-runners at Chepstow. Alas, Bally Legend wasn’t one of them, and he laboured home in sixth, not beaten far, but beaten far enough.
The rain also hit Wetherby, and there our trainer did take evasive action and withdrew Embsay Crag. That horse is one to watch out for on good ground, because he’s on a very workable mark just now.
Today’s super-competitive, so we should get a nice return if we can catch a slice of the prize money in both contests.
We kick off in the…
The wind has rather been taken out of my sails here, as the price has truncated a fair bit since I picked him out last night. Nevertheless, that speaks well of his chance, and if we could get a winner in leg one, we’d have plenty to cheer later on.
Cloudy Bob is the fellow here, based on class. He’s been a little frustrating, but has placed in seven of eight career starts in this Class 4 level. That included a win in a fairly strong handicap hurdle two starts back, and he was over-faced when unseating in a Class 2 last time out.
Back in novice company and his usual grade, 10/3 is fair enough.
I’m coupling him up with …
She’s a huge price for a lady who always runs her race, is Spinatrix. Yes, this might be the deepest race of the day, but that’s why we’re getting 20/1 here. Spinatrix has run over six furlongs twenty times, and she’s been in the frame in all but three of those races.
They include plenty of big field handicap s like this, and five wins over the trip. Class 2 is no issues to her, with her two efforts in the grade (last time out and four starts back) resulting in a bronze and a silver, both in 18+ fields.
Good ground is fine, and she’s close enough to the middle to go with the pace, which she likes. Seven pound claimer, Conor Beasley, takes the ride again after just failing the last day, and I reckon she’ll again run her race. As I’m against Jack Dexter (needs softer, surely), I’m hopeful we can make the frame, which will pay 5/1 in itself.
The double pays a monster 90/1 and the place part will return 9/1 with BetVictor, best odds guaranteed.
Back Cloudy Bob and Spinatrix in an each way double with BetVictor with the win part paying 90/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
