Daily Dabble, 28th April 2013
A frustrating day yesterday, as Dubai Dynamo just missed out on a place, whilst our 12/1 pick Spa’s Dance finished second, getting caught almost at the post. These, unfortunately, are the fine margins we have to deal with, but we’re getting closer. Hopefully today will be our day, starting with the…
Which features Pistol Basc, whose career stats (2 wins and 7 places from 33) is hardly a cause for celebration, but a trip to Wetherby seems to light this horse up, as his record here reads 2315212524, a decent level of consistency with both his career wins coming here: the last of which was back in October 2010 off a mark of 88 and over today’s trip. He has come down the weights in recent months and today he’ll be going off 82. He has recently gone back to Ferdy Murphy’s and if Ferdy can get him going like he used to, he looks very well treated at the weights. It’s a big field, so we’ll be getting 4 places at 1/4 odds on the 11/2 currently available.
I’ve been backing Susan Gardner’s horses in handicap races for a while now, as they generate decent results when priced between 5/2 and 12/1. Since 2010, these horses have a 24.4% strike rate returning an ROI of 63.4%. The yard is in great form at present, as 5 wins and 5 places from 23 in the last month will testify and today she runs Bach On Tow, a 6/1 shot. This horse has been placed second in three point to point races and was a winner at Taunton on his penultimate outing. He was 4th of 15 last time out and was staying on well at the end, so should give another good account here.
The double pays 89/2 and the place part is 4.94/1, both with Paddy Power (BOG, of course!).
Back Pistol Basc and Bach On Tow in an each way double with Paddy Power, the win part paying 89/2 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
