Daily Dabble, 3rd May 2013
A strange and frustrating day yesterday. Our first selection Moon Melody had no support at all in the market and drifted out from my advised 7/1 to 14/1 before running really well and getting home in 3rd place, helped admittedly by the poor shows from two of the market leaders. This meant we’d a decent sized bet on Showboating twenty minutes later, our 13/2 became 9/1 and there was the prospect of a decent return on the cards. The horse was held up for a late challenge, but didn’t quite get there, missing a place by just half a length back in 4th.
We hope to get a little closer today starting with the…
Secret Art is the selection here. Third on both starts as a 2yr old and showed some promise in both races, was then gelded and finished third again on his reappearance. He was, admittedly, third of four that day, but the winner of that Class 5 race, Market Town beat our selection by less than 3 lengths and went on to finish second in last week’s Class 2 Esher Cup at Sandown, going down by just a neck. The 2nd placed horse from that 4 runner race went on win next time out, so the form looks good. Secret Art is currently 9/1 with Coral (1/5 odds for the place), whilst he is 7/1 elsewhere.
Raydari has come on leaps and bounds since a switch to the Dundalk A/W track. His career seemed dead in the water, as he was unplaced in thirteen turf races (6 on flat, 7 over hurdles!) before a last throw of the dice here at Dundalk. Since then he has been a revelation for new trainer Rodger Sweeney achieving a record of 112261 in his six runs here to date. He is 122 over C&D, having only been beaten by a head and a short head in the two defeats. He’s a strong travelling type who should go close yet again at 6/1 (1/4 odds for the place) with both Coral and Bet365
The double pays 69/1 and the place part is priced at 6/1, both with Coral (BOG, of course!).
Back Secret Art and Raydari in an each way double with Coral, the win part paying 69/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
