The place double was landed yesterday, but we were very close to a decent win double, missing out by a matter of inches as both horses went down by a neck. Secret Art (advised at 9/1) was sent off at 6/1 and left his run to the line a fraction too late, as he was gaining with every stride and would surely have won, had the race been 20 yards longer! Raydari also just failed to get home: sent off at 9/2, our 6/1 shot steamed up the inside late on, encountered more traffic than he wanted to and just didn’t quite get there.
It was still a nice 6/1 place double though and we hope to get even closer today starting with the…
Where Naabegha is the selection here. A comfortable winner last time out over 5f at Salisbury and has actually been off the track for almost 11 months, so should at least be fit and fresh. I don’t think that this is a particularly strong race and the favourite looks a little vulnerable, whilst the past form of our selection suggests a big run, if he’s fired up for it on his return. Naabegha is currently 13/2 with Coral (1/5 odds for the place), whilst he is 11/2 elsewhere.
Up Ten Down Two was a model of consistency last season, apart from one disappointing run. His form last season reads 102223, with both the last two runs and the win coming over today’s trip. 3rd last time out in a similar Class 4 contest to today: he only went down by a head and a short head and was still running on at the end. If he can hit the ground running for his seasonal debut (he won first time out last term) he looks set to go close yet again at 8/1 (1/5 odds for the place) with both Hills and 7/1 generally.
The double pays 69/1 and the place part is priced at 6/1, both with William Hill (BOG, of course!).
Back Naabegha and Up Ten Down Two in an each way double with William Hill, the win part paying 69/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
