Daily Dabble, 8th May 2013
As disappointing day yesterday, as firstly Dream Catcher relinquished 3rd place inside the final furlong to come 4th at 6/1, a length shy of the money, whilst old-timer Eijaaz was 5th at a similar 6/1. He never really got going until late on, despite the best efforts of his rider. he was making a little headway, but the chance had already gone.
We need better from today’s selections which start in the…
Where I’m going to side with Ballista, who is generally an 8/1 shot this morning. This horse really sparked to life last term, winning 5 times, before going to Meydan and running very creditably, especially when finishing 2nd in a strong handicap there. He’s usually very quick off the mark and from stall 3 today, has every chance of making all from the front, despite conceding weight all round. Our second race is the…
Drive Home takes my fancy in this one. This horse went really well on his seasonal reappearance, finishing 4th of 15 a fortnight ago and a 3lb claimer will help his cause today with his preferred conditions. All four career win have been over this 7f trip and two of those were on today’s good to firm ground. The 3lb claim and the 1lb drop to a mark of 59 from last time out should enable to get close here at a current 15/2 BOG.
The double pays just over 75/1 and the place part is priced at just under 13/2 (6.48/1), both with BetVictor (BOG, of course!).
Back Ballista and Drive Home in an each way double with BetVictor, the win part paying 151/2 (75.5/1) (Best Odds Guaranteed)
