As expected yesterday, Ballista’s tactics were to blast out and try to win the race from the front. He fairly shot out of stall three, hit the bend first and held on to win by a length. We got on at 8/1 and he returned a 7/1 winner. This meant we’d a nice bet running to race two, but unfortunately Drive Home was withdrawn mid-afternoon, but the plus side is that we made 10pts profit from our bet, which thus became a 1pt E/W bet on Ballista.
We’re hoping to go one better today, starting with the…
Where I’ve gone with Dashing David. As mentioned in Stat of the Day, Richard Hannon’s horses go well enough here at Chester and this horse is not only drawn very well in stall three (this stall produced a couple of winners yesterday), he’s a strong finisher as proven when second last time out at Kempton. Ryan Moore’s on board today and I’d expect him to just get a little bit more out of this one today at a current 6/1 BOG (13/2 in places). Our second race is the…
Jonathan Portman has a good recent record in handicaps here at Goodwood (4 wins and 2 places from 13), making 24pts over the last two years and runs Annecdote here who is generally a 6/1 shot this morning. A progressive type as a 2 yr old, finishing 42141, with the last two runs coming at Class 2 having started out in Class 5 races. This is an easier task than her last win and provided she runs well after a 7 month break, we’ll be there or thereabouts today.
The double pays just over 51/1 and the place part is priced at just over 9/2 (4.78/1), both with Bet365 (BOG, of course!).
Back Dashing David and Annecdote in an each way double with Bet365, the win part paying 103/2 (51.5/1) (Best Odds Guaranteed)
