A decent day yesterday, even if we didn’t land the main prize. Dr Red Eye did exactly as we expected, he blasted out of stall 2, got to the bend first, made all, hung in and won at a very welcome 7/1 (advised at 15/2). This meant we’d a decent chance with Mafi, who didn’t disappoint, despite going down by a length. He battled gamely to grab third place at 6/1 late on, which gave us a nice consolation prize of a 5.9/1 place double.
We’re getting much closer of late to landing the win double and I’m hoping to do just that on a tricky day of racing starting in the…
Where I’ve gone with Dark Lane. This horse is in excellent form of late, having won five of fifteen races since Christmas and has made the first three home in all but four of those contests. Ran really well when landing the spoils last time out at Chepstow and although he now carries a 6lb penalty for that win, that probably won’t be enough to stop him. A little shorter than usual for a DD selection, but the 5/1 BOG generally available still looks decent value. Our second race is the…
Lowther is generally a 9/1 shot this morning, but please don’t be deterred by that price. I think that it offers terrific value for this selection. This horse has been in excellent form over the winter on the All-Weather surfaces, but has proven in the past that he’s just as good on turf. In the last six months, this 8 yr old has won two of nine starts and has made the top three on six occasions. He’s no spring chicken that’s for sure and I suppose the longer odds are due to the switch back to turf, but I still fancy him to make the frame today.
The double pays 59/1 and the place part is priced at just over 9/2 (4.6/1), both with Coral (BOG, of course!).
Back Dark Lane and Lowther in an each way double with Coral, the win part paying 59/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
