Dark Lane stayed on well yesterday to take 3rd place near the finish which gave us a shot of a place double with Lowther a couple of hours later. Unfortunately, the oldest horse in the race didn’t have enough in reserve to keep up with the leaders and weakened considerably late on, eventually coming home in 5th position, some 8 lengths behind the winner.
We are starting to hit quite a few placers and winners of late, we’re just struggling to get two on the same day with any regularity, but I ain to put that right today starting with the…
Where Kings Grey looks a class above his rivals and the 5/1 BOG on offer from BetVictor looks very generous. This horse is in good nick, having finished a very creditable fourth at Aintree just over 5 weeks ago and followed that up with a win at Southwell eleven days ago. Kings Grey is a model of consistency, making the places on each of his last 13 races and I expect that run to continue at the very least today. Our second race is the…
Upton Mead is generally the 10/1 outsider here, but I think that those odds belie this horse’s true ability. This one has been kept busy by his yard: this will be his eighth race of the year so far with an impressive record so far reading 1112416. Two of those wins and the second place have come from his three runs here at Plumpton this year and all his recent good runs have come under today’s jockey who continues to take off a very useful 7lbs. This is not the best race you’ll see today and the odds on offer make this one well worth a small punt.
The double pays 65/1 and the place part is priced at 5/1, both with BetVictor (BOG, of course!).
Back Kings Grey and Upton Mead in an each way double with BetVictor, the win part paying 65/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
