Daily Dabble, 13th May 2013
We took a step backwards yesterday, as firstly Kings Grey’s run was littered with uncharacteristic jumping errors which restricted him to a 6th place finish, it was a poor show from a horse that has got round Aintree in the past. This meant that only pride was at stake in race 2, but even that went West as Upton Mead put in a similarly frustrating performance with poor jumping and a 6th place finish!
Today is the start of a new week and hopefully a return to some of the form we threatened in parts last week. We start the new week with the…
Cosmic Halo won a maiden over a mile at Ripon almost a year ago and whilst not winning since has shown plenty of signs that her next victory won’t be too far away, especially in two placed finishes at Wolverhampton a few days either side of New Year, both over a longer trip of 1m 4f. She’s been off the track for just over 4 months, but the Fahey yard have a good record with horses coming back from similar breaks and this filly will probably appreciate only having to run ten and a half furlongs on her comeback. She has been raised 1lb for finishing second last time out, but George Chaloner is able to take 5lbs off her, which should help the cause. This one is currently available around the 5/1 to 11/2 mark.
Our second race is the 8.20 Windsor
Where Duroble Man is generally a 6/1 shot here. He has shown levels of consistency and versatility in finishing third in each of his last three starts over a variety of distances and ground conditions. He should relish a further step up to today’s trip, being a half-brother to King’s Destiny, a decent sort with wins in the 10 to 12 furlong range. An interesting jockey booking here, as Ryan Moore rides for Roger Varian for only the third time, two of which have been in the last month and both resulting in wins, hopefully th hat trick is on the cards today.
The double pays almost 45/1 (89/2) and the place part is priced at 29/8 (3.62/1), both with Bet365 (BOG, of course!).
Back Cosmic Halo and Duroble Man in an each way double with Bet365, the win part paying 89/2 (44.5/1) (Best Odds Guaranteed)
