Daily Dabble, 16th May 2013

Neither Hi Note nor Lucematic covered themselves in glory yesterday, as the former ran out of steam to finish 5th, whilst the latter did stay on and make an effort, but the race was already well lost by that point and the end result was a lowly 7th after being held up in the rear for much of the contest.

All of which meant, another 2pts slipped through our fingers and we really need better from today’s picks which start with the…

3.15 York

I don’t often pick a horse for the Daily Dabble from a race with 15 runners, but Anderiego is a very interesting runner here. Trained by David O’Meara and ridden today by Graham Gibbons, this pair have won six from nine this year already and team up on this one today. The horse itself won a couple of C&D handicaps here at York last summer and looked back to his best when beaten by just ahead last time out at Thirsk, at big odds of 16/1. Incidentally Graham Gibbons rode the winner that day! Best priced at 9/1 this morning with William Hill, but generally 8/1 elsewhere.

Our second race is the 7.00 Newmarket

English Summer has been on a fantastic run of consistent form for the last eight months or so with results of four wins and seven second place finishes from just thirteen races, a place strike rate of almost 85% . Last seen in February, it is hoped he’ll be fresh today and ready to resume that fantastic run. he should be aided by a drop in class today too and looks an excellent prospect at around the 15/2 mark

The double pays 79/1 today and the place part is priced at just over 27/4 (6.8/1), both with William Hill (BOG, of course!).

Back Anderiego and English Summer in an each way double with William Hill, the win part paying 79/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
