Daily Dabble, 20th May 2013
Another one of those one from two days yesterday, as Valbucca turned in a great performance to land race two, staying on well to win by two lengths at 11/2 (we were on at 8/1 or bigger), but this was purely a victory for my pride rather than the daily dabble, as Green Bank had failed to place earlier. He was battling to try to stay amongst the leaders when he clattered the penultimate hurdle and that was pretty much that, I’m afraid. He soldiered on, but could only manage to finish 7th.
It’d be nice to get both home today, though, so we’ll start with…
Where Rylee Mooch is in good nick at present, despite not having won for seven races now. He looked back to his best when getting collared late on at Newmarket last Thursday and a repeat of that level of performance should put him in the mix again. He runs off the same mark of 75 today but will be aided by Jason Hart’s 5lb claim and I expect a big run here today at a best price of 13/2, which will hopefully give us a few shekels to run with in the…
Hellbender (as high at 7/1) has been a bit of a revelation since his switch to Shaun Harris’ yard, winning a C&D handicap on his debut for the new trainer and recording a string a fine results since. His form line in his 6 starts for Mr Harris reads 123223 with all six runs coning here at Southwell and all bar the third race of that sequence over C&D. Still reasonably treated at the weights and off the same 69 mark as last time out and the 3lb jockey claim should help pose the biggest danger to the short priced favourite.
The double pays just over 55/1 today and the place part is priced at just over 17/4 (4.29/1) both with Bet365 (BOG, of course!).
Back Rylee Mooch and Hellbender in an each way double with Bet365, the win part paying 221/4 (55.25/1) (Best Odds Guaranteed)
