Daily Dabble, 24th May 2013
Another damp squib yesterday, as firstly Chandlery never looked returning to his old form, nor did he ever look like getting involved in the shake up, finishing 9th of 10 and a good 20-plus lengths off the winner. Back to the drawing board for the connections of that one, I think. That meant that Poetic Verse’s run was largely irrelevant, but some validation of the pick would have been nice. However, that wasn’t to be, Subjected to the typical Jamie Spencer hold-up tactics the late run was too late and too ineffective to count, as he finished fourth.
It’s high time for this to start delivering, so today we’re kicking off with the…
Where I’ve sided with Call of Duty who on paper at least, looks decent value at a price of around the 13/2 mark. He looks a real threat here as one of his two victories over course and distance came in this race last year and looks primed for another big run as he aims to defend his crown. His record at haydock reads 131 with two C&D wins coming last summer. On his recent Musselburgh return, he looked like he needed the and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go well here today back on decent ground (Gd to firm today). He’s on a decent enough mark today and hopefully he’ll set us up nicely for the…
Where Tinseltown is priced as high as 13/2 in places, as he looks to build upon a good display at Thirsk last time out. he wasn’t disgraced by any means that day (11th May), finishing 4th of 14 taking on far better horses than he’ll face today. In fact, he was only half a length away from finishing second in a desperately tight finish. He won three races last summer, including two over course and distance here at Catterick on both good ground and soft ground too, so today’s going shouldn’t trouble him too much. He’s not likely to let the favourite dictate affairs and if he can stay close to the pace, he’s every chance here.
The double pays just over 55/1 (221/4) today and the place part is priced at a shade over 17/4 (4.29/1) both with BetVictor (BOG, of course!).
Back Call of Duty and Tinseltown in an each way double with BetVictor, the win part paying 221/4 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
