Daily Dabble, 25th May 2013
I just can’t quite get this Daily Dabble right, as I seem to be finding placers (and the odd winner) with regularity, but rarely do we get two on the same day.
That, unfortunately, happened again yesterday, as Tinseltown ran a really good race to finish 3rd at 15/2, despite being badly hampered at one point and losing 2nd place on: he never actually looked like not making the frame. Unfortunately his efforts were in vain for the double, as Call of Duty hadn’t matched that performance earlier in the evening. He’d every chance 2f from home, but faded quite badly to finish 6th, some 9 lengths away from the money.
I desperately need a change of luck/fortune/call it what you will starting today with the…
Maarek is a former Group 2 winner (Ascot) coming back to Group 3 racing (where his record reads 131) today. Despite finishing 5th at York last time out, he wasn’t far away from either the places or the winner. He loves it here at the Curragh, winning 3 from 9 with a further 3 placed efforts and he has made the frame in each of his last five runs over C&D (41212) Like him or loathe him, but Jamie Spencer’s on board today and the partnership are 2 from 2. It’s quite a big field (17 run) today, but he has run in races with up to 30 runners in the past, so it shouldn’t be a problem and if the expected rain comes, the 6/1 on offer from Stan James and/or Coral might look quite generous.
Two wins and three places from 10 C&D efforts put Aye Aye Digby in my sights today, he comes here ion good form on the back of his latest C&D win just 16 days ago, when he got off sharply from stall 2 and made all from the front, staying on well to repel the challenges from behind. A rise of 3lbs shouldn’t be enough to stop him today and he’s got another good draw, running out of stall 1 for this one. I fully expect him to be there or thereabouts and the 6/1 price on offer from Coral and BetVictor is quite appealing.
The double pays 48/1 today and the place part is priced at a reasonable 9/2, both with Coral (BOG, of course!).
Back Maarek and Aye Aye Digby in an each way double with Coral, the win part paying 48/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
