The change in luck I pleaded for yesterday never materialised as Maarek was withdrawn from his race, meaning we only had an E/W single on Aye Aye Digby. In fairness, he gave a reasonable account of him and led inside the final furlong before being outstripped by two rivals late in the piece. He kept at his work, though and stayed on to retain 3rd place. We were on at 6/1, so we did manage a small profit on the day.
We really need to get two runners onto the track today and then get them placed at the very least and I think I’ve found a likely pair starting with the…
Endeavor is a more than capable sort on his day and comes here today in great form, having won 3 of his last 4 starts (runner-up in the one he didn’t win!) and looks a far more attractive proposition than most of his rivals today. If he brings any of his hurdling form to the table today, then there’s no reason why he can’t add to his previous 3 course victories and his 50% place strike rate and as such Paddy Power’s 11/2 looks fair.
Grey Missile comes here in good heart having broken his duck at Kempton a fortnight ago. He was pretty impressive that day winning by a good four lengths and looking like he could do with going further. The extra furlong and a half should be right up his street here. Trained by Jeremy Scott with Nick Scholfield on board: this partnership has a 20% strike rate since 2011 and will look to add another winner to their long list of successes. This one is best priced at 6/1 with Paddy Power.
The double pays 89/2 (44.5/1) today and the place part is priced at just over 7/2 (3.62/1), both with Paddy Power (BOG, of course!).
Back Endeavor and Grey Missile in an each way double with Paddy Power, the win part paying 44.5/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
