Placepot Picks: Newmarket, 7th June 2013

Close yesterday. Very close. Five winners with cumulative odds of 14,882/1 (!!) and a fourth placed banker, with three placepot places. Oh yes, and he was stopped in his run at a crucial point. Dividend paid £233, but that’s of little interest to us on this occasion.

Onwards, to Newmarket this afternoon, and a guest selection from Jim Cannon, Khajaaly and Priceless Art syndicate member, and pretty good picker of horses (backed 20/1 Honey Meadow and 8/1 Roserrow independently of my placepot perm).

It’s Newmarket’s first July course meeting, and weather couldn’t be a greater contrast to last year, when Jim, myself and a few other hardy souls were present for impressive performances from the late Newfangled, Thomas Chippendale, and the wind and rain.
