A non-runner coupled with a 14/1 chance which unseated at the last when in a close second place yesterday meant no draw, and we move on.
We start with the…

I wanted to back Taurus Twins the other night, but he was a non-runner, and he’s turned up here today. Winner of this race last year from a four pound higher mark, he’s in good form and has won in this week in the last two years. He seems to have a decent draw – if that’s material in a smallish field of eight – and, despite money for two against him, I’d expect him to run a very solid race.
He’s likely to lead, and they may just not catch him, at around the 13/2 mark currently.
5.00 Perth
Cool Baranca won off as high as 120 last year in a Class 3 handicap hurdle, and she remains in good form. Given that she races here off a mark of 104, having won a couple of months ago and recorded solid placed efforts since then, there are reasons to be cheerful.
Her trainer, Dianne Sayer, is in decent form, placing with 50% of her runners in the last fortnight, and she’s ridden by the excellent Lucy Alexander for an all girls experience. There is a doubt about her lasting out the trip, but that’s factored into her price of 9/1, which I feel represents value, especially considering Cool Baranca is a two-times course winner (form figures here 321618).
The double pays 69/1 today and the place part is priced at a shade under 13/2, both with William Hill (BOG, of course!).
Back Taurus Twins and Cool Baranca in an each way double with William Hill, the win part paying 69/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
