A winner and an unplaced yesterday, so well done if you backed them in singles too, and bad luck/sorry if you didn’t. Running late today, so I’ll keep it brief.
Lily’s Angel‘s form is very good, and I think she’s been overlooked here in favour of the O’Brien hotpot. Lily’s has won four of the five times she’s gone left handed, including a win over course and distance in a big field handicap. She’s also won three of the five times she’s raced on this fast ground.
Since leaving Richard Fahey’s yard in September last year, she’s won six of nine starts, including a valuable Meydan handicap, a Listed race and a Group 3. Seven furlongs is her trip and she looks to have an excellent chance tonight.
We stay in Ireland for a fair field handicap, and I’m taking a chance with Dermot Weld’s Encrypted Message. This Dansili gelding recorded two wins and a second last term before losing his way a little at the back end off a much higher mark. It’s also perfectly possible that he hated the heavy going on those final two starts last term.
He’s back here off 92, and that might still be on the high side, but he’ll be a stronger horse this year, and the fact that wealthy connections persist with this gelding implies some improvement may be expected.
He’s available at 20/1 as I write.
The double pays 93.5/1 today and the place part is priced at just over 11/1, both with bet365 (BOG, of course!).
