The staying-on Freeport was just held off by a neck yesterday, finishing second to Kohlaan, but his run was in vain, as Gladiatrix had failed to shine earlier. In fairness, she did encounter some trouble in running, but I’m not entirely convinced she was going well enough to make the frame anyway.
That is, however, pure conjecture so let’s move on to Monday, where we start with the…
Needy McCredie tends to reserve some of her best form for this Cumbrian track with two wins and four places from seven visits and a record of 22123 over Course & Distance. She runs off 60 today and has been placed on three occasions at higher marks than this and in tougher races. She had a good season last season despite not winning a race, but she put that right at Catterick last month and although she didn’t shine at Beverley last time out (slow away over an inadequate 5f), a return to Carlisle and the 6f trip have to be seen as positives today. The current best price of 17/2 (BetVictor) looks more than fair to me.
Rivas Rhapsody looked like she needed the run last time out, when finishing fifth on her seasonal reappearance at Leicester a fortnight ago, off the back of a ten month break. Prior to her absence from the track, she hadn’t failed to make the first two home in any of her eight starts (11122221) and provided the recent run has blown away the cobwebs, anything like a return to last season’s form should be good enough to be on the premises this evening. That said, the 15/2 on offer from BetVictor looks very attractive.
The double pays a shade under 80/1 BOG today (79.75/1 to be exact) with BetVictor, with the place element running at 5.75/1 .
