Not one of my finest half hours yesterday, I’ll admit.
Echo of Lightning ran well enough before weakening badly late on to finish 4th at 10/1 (we’d suggested 7’s) in a 6-runner race, so all bets were down before Gala Casino Star even took to the track. This was probably just as well, as he too trailed in a coupe of places outside the money. He was held up and had little to offer when asked for an effort: our 11/1 shot eventually finishing 5th at 10/1.
I’m hoping for better today, starting with the…
Cousin Khee is a relatively unexposed sort on the Flat with a record of 21416 since switching from bumpers/hurdles, where he was pretty useful too. I think he’s still open to further improvement and beat a couple of today’s rivals on his penultimate outing at York over a mile and a half. He didn’t look suited to the extra 2 furlongs he was asked to run at Goodwood last time in much better company than this and can be excused his 6th place finish. At just 2lbs higher than that win at York, he’s not overburdened today and the drop back in class and trip should pay dividends this afternoon at odds of up to 9/1, which will hopefully give us a decent stake in hand for the…
Bold Adventure has been in good nick on the A/W this year (2 wins and 2 places from 7 runs) and won over today’s trip at Lingfield back in April. His best form is admittedly at Wolverhampton, but he has won here in the past and wasn’t disgraced when finishing 5th last time out over course and distance in a messy, slowly run affair. If there’s more pace on show today, he stands every chance at odds of around 6/1.
The double pays 62/1 BOG today with Bet365, with the place element running at just over 11/2 (5.6/1 to be precise)
