July started in a similarly frustrating vein as June had progressed. Greyemkay was a good winner at 3/1 in race 2, after we’d backed him at 13/2. He stayed on well to take the race by a neck, but the result was purely one for pride rather than profit, unless of course you’re also backing these as singles.

I say this because our double was already dead in the water after Dubawi Phantom had weakened badly in the latter stages of race 1, meaning he only beat one of his seven rivals home.

I’m going for back to back races with two horses from the same yard, ridden by the same jockey today. The odds are likely to be a little on the tight side, but this reflects the good chance I think we’ve got. The tea time races I’ve selected start with the…

5.00 Hamilton

Salvatore Fury comes here in excellent form, having produced figures of 24121 in the last 7 weeks. he won here over course and distance at the end of  May and narrowly failed over the same C&D a fortnight later, going down by a nose to Secret Advice (see below). He ran equally well when winning last time out at Carlisle and will certainly be suited by the early pace expected today. This one is still on the rise and despite creeping up in the weights, he has a very good chance of landing this one at odds of around 9/2.

5.30 Hamilton

Secret Advice beat Salvatore Fury (above) by a nose last time out to land her second win in three races. She’s up 4lbs in the weights for her recent form, but she’s another one who is till on the up and this race looks a pretty weak affair. She does seem to prefer a stiff track, as demonstrated by her win at Carlisle back in May and also here last time out. That last victory here was over 5f, but the way she finished strongly, snatching the lead in the shadow of the post suggested that she should be suited by today’s extra furlong. I really fancy her to take this one at 11/2 and I’d be very surprised if she wasn’t at least placed today.

Today’s double pays just under 35/1 BOG today with BetVictor with the place element is a shade over 7/2 at 3.5125/1.
