Daily Dabble, 3rd July 2013

It wasn’t a good day for either the Fanning / Dalgleish partnership or subsequently ourselves yesterday. Salvatore Fury was very disappointing indeed, finishing back in 6th of the 9 runners after attracting a fair bit of market support and then a half hour later, Secret Advice was a late withdrawal from proceedings.

So, we drew a blank, but undeterred I switch my focus to a tea time hurdle and a late, late show on the A/W and it all kicks off in the…

5.10 Perth

Cool Baranca seems to save her best form for this trip of just over 2 miles here at Perth with a record of two wins and two places from five attempts over C&D. Rain is forecast for most of the day an any softening of the ground will further suit her. If she can get close to anything like her best form, she looks very treated here today, running off a mark of 104 (she has won over C&D off marks of 110 & 120 in the past, She’s by means a certainty today, but at odds of around 13/2, she looks decent value here.

9.20 Kempton

Hill of Dreams has been on fire of late with a record of 2312411 in the last four months or so and come back to contest this 1m trip at Kempton where she has already won three times from six over course and distance with two 2nd placed finishes to boot. Inevitably, the handicapper is doing his best to rein her in, but even the 10lb hike for her last win might not be enough to stop her going in again. And should she not win, I still feel that at odds of around the 5/1 mark, she’s a solid bet for at least a place this evening.

Today’s double pays 44/1 BOG today with Ladbrokes with the place element is a shade over 7/2 at 3.6/1.
