The onset of my hay fever means I’m behind schedule today, so I’ll keep this short and sweet!
A decent day yesterday as Cashpoint (backed at 13/2) stayed on strongly enough to just finish ahead of the favourite and take third place at an SP of 9/2. This meant that we’d at least got a couple of shillings riding onto race 2.
Race 2 saw an excellent 7/1 (we got 17/2) victory for Cincinnati Kit, meaning that we landed the 5/1 consolation prize of the place double.
Hopefully we can go one better today, starting with the…
Midnight Feast has been in excellent form this season finishing 331101 since being fitted with blinkers or a visor: the visor is worn again today. That form was admittedly all on A/W tracks, but he does go well on turf too, where has a 2nd placed finish to his name of a mark of 81, but runs off 72 here today. If he copes with the transition back to turf this afternoon, then he is very well treated at the weights based on his prior turf form and as such, odds of up to 8/1 look very appealing.
The breeding behind Invincible Cara suggests that she might be a decent sort in time, although she hasn’t quite shown it so far. She did, however, produce the best of her six runs to date last time out when narrowly beaten at Doncaster over today’s trip. Any repeat of that performance would be enough for at least a place, but I fancy her to step up for her first victory here today. The booking of Adam Kirby as jockey is seen as a positive move and whilst not bank-breaking, the current odds of 5/1 seem more than fair here.
Today’s double pays 53/1 BOG today with Stan James, whilst the place element is priced at just over 4/1 (4.2/1 to be exact).
Back Midnight Feast & Invincible Cara in an each way double with Stan James with the win part paying 53/1 (Best Odds Guaranteed)
