Dumbarton traveled like the winner before not picking up as we might have hoped yesterday, but still finishing a clear second at 5/1.

Aytach Sadik is not the most well known training name on the block, but he is a capable enough handler. In Apache Dawn, he has a real Southwell stalwart, and a horse optimally favoured by conditions.
This is a Class 5, good ground, handicap chase over two miles. Apache Dawn has run in two Class 5 handicap chases here over two miles, and finished 12. They were his most recent starts, and he did really well when second because he was hassled and harried for the lead by favourite Truckers Benefit (eventually pulled up).
Today he looks set to get the lead on his own, and that might be crucial. If he does, I think he’ll win.
Ground, trip, track, class are all in his favour, and that last time out second was off the same mark as today.
