We hit the crossbar again yesterday with another of those 1st and 2nd days. Ingenti was only beaten inside the last 50 yards at 11/4, after we’d taken the early 100/30, which meant we’d nothing on Sunny Future who looked very long at the morning price of 11/10.
That price indeed proved to be decent value, as he was sent off at 8/11 and secured his expected victory by three parts of a length.
Hoping to get even closer today.starting with the…
Madrasa is my pick here, as he would appear to have the best form on offer and comes here in good nick, having improved his record in each of his last three outings, finishing third and then second, before winning last time out at Redcar. Admittedly, all three of those runs were at trips a couple of furlongs longer than today’s mile and a half, but he does possess enough natural speed to take this one. There will be doubts in the market about him dropping back in trip, but he has run and made the frame at 1m4f in the past and the 9/4 currently on offer looks decent enough value to me.
Beacon Lodge is a former dual Group 3 winner, but now finds himself in lowly claiming company for the first time, having lost his way a little of late. His form has picked up a little of late with better performances coming in four runs wearing a hood, which is also worn again today. On past exploits, he’s clearly the class horse in this race and he won’t mind the soft ground, as he has won once and placed once on similar surfaces in the past. The morning withdrawal of Talent Scout will help his cause further, but has led to a shortening of his price to 10/11.
Back Madrasa & Beacon Lodge in a double with Paddy Power paying 5.2/1 BOG.
