I apologise again for the tardiness of today’s post, but I’m hoping it’ll be a case of better late than never. I certainly hope to improve on yesterday’s performance, where a solitary 3rd place (Madrasa at 7/2) was the highlight of the day.
Unfortunately, my choice of races is now restricted due to the lateness of this piece, but I’m still hopeful of success this evening, starting with the…
Where a price of up to 9/4 about Quel Ballistic looks generous based on recent form. This horse’s career seemed to have stalled courtesy of a series of jumping errors before a switch to Peter Bowen’s yard. He has improved in each of his three races for his new handlers, winning the first two and putting in his best performance to date when second last time out at Perth.
He did nothing wrong that day, but was denied a quick hat-trick by Dantes King, who went on to win again next time out, also at Perth. Despite the improvement shown from race to race, he has only been raised by a pound for that last run. He has run well enough in the past when there’s been some cut in the ground and the fact that he’s dropping down a class to race here tonight makes him a big player in my book.
Significant Move has only won four of his twenty-four races to date, but all four victories have come at the 1m2f to 1m3f distance and he has an excellent record here at Windsor, where he seems to produce his best efforts and his record here reads 3411. He has
won both his races over tonight’s course and distance, the latest of which was just three weeks ago, when he seemed to win quite comfortably, beating eleven other rivals including Breaking The Bank who reopposes tonight.
He has been raised just 3lbs for that win and he’ll no doubt be helped by his jockey’s 5lb claim this evening. Running off a mark of 74 shouldn’t pose too much of a problem either, as he has already won off 77 and 79, making tonight’s price of 7/4 look more than reasonable.
Back Quel Ballistic & Significant Move in a double with Paddy Power paying a shade under 8/1 BOG (7.9375/1 for the pedants like me!)
