Daily Dabble, 30th July 2013
I had hoped that yesterday’s piece would be a case of better late than never. Unfortunately it proved not to be the case as both horses selected failed to even make the frame. Quel Ballistic was going really well and disputing the lead heading towards the 10th of the 16th fences at Uttoxeter last night, before pulling up sharply as though something was amiss. The camera angle isn’t the greatest at that point of the track, so I’m unsure what went wrong, hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
This meant that the double was down, but Significant Move couldn’t even secure a moral victory for us, finishing back in 4th place.
Results for this double certainly haven’t been as good as we’d hoped/expected and I aim to redress the balance somewhat today with these two, starting with the…
A best price of 11/10 looks quite big for a horse as good as Nafa has been of late. She has won five of her last eight starts and was narrowly (by a neck) beaten on her last outing none days ago. That race was a valuable handicap at the Curragh against tougher opposition that she’ll encounter here today. That run at The Curragh was a lifetime best performance and any repeat of that effort should easily be enough today. All we need is for her jockey to keep her involved early doors and we should have a good crack at the…
Man of Leisure has been an absolute revelation since moving to Anthony Honeyball’s yard. A run of form that reads 11121 since the switch is quite amazing. Anthony is of those trainers who shows a level stakes profit by backing him blindly in all handicap races and he has a great record here at Worcester too with a 29.3% strike rate producing an ROI of 198%. Man Of Leisure now runs off a mark some 39lbs higher than he did on his first start for this yard less than eight weeks ago, but I don’t think he has finished improving just yet and the 13/8 on offer from William Hill might be a bit of a steal come 9pm.
Back Nafa & Man Of Leisure in a double with William Hill paying a shade over 9/2 BOG (4.5125/1 to be precise!)
