Trainer Stats: 12th Aug 2013
Andy Newton’s updated his trainers to follow list this week – See which yards have made the grade this week……
JAMES FANSHAWE (8 winners from his last 14 runners, 57% strike-rate): Got a headline mention in last week’s hot trainers list and didn’t let us down with two more winners from just 4 runners. They are currently showing a +£12 level stakes profit from their runners this season, and are now on 23 winners for the year. They generally get between 35-45 winners looking back at the last 10-15 years, so there should be plenty more to come. Of the AW tracks it’s at Kempton (24%) they do the best at, while on the turf look for runners at Brighton, Goodwood, Leicester, Lingfield, Newbury, Redcar and York – all courses they’ve got excellent strike-rates at.

JOHN GOSDEN (10 winners from his last 18 runners, 56% strike-rate): A great Group Three win over in France on Sunday followed a decent weekend for the Gosden team after they also fired in a Newmarket treble on Saturday, as well as another success at Lingfield in the evening. They’ve now moved over the £1million in total prize money won this season, while with 61 victories are ticking along very nicely. They did manage 119 winners last term though, their best ever finish, so still have a lot of work to do to get near that, but breaking 100 again is certainly achievable. The bulk of their winners have been with their 3 years-olds (43), while they sent out 7 juvenile winners from 35 runners – make a special note of any 2 year-olds they might send to Yarmouth as they are currently 5 from 12 (42%) in that age bracket at the track.

DAVID BARRON (7 winners from his last 15 runners, 47% strike-rate): Seven winners from their last 15 runners can’t be sniffed at, but with 5 seconds too then 12 of their last 15 runners have actually finished in the top two! They now need just 4 more successes to better their 2012 total of 50, and with 76 their best (2006) they will then have that as a target. They are another stable that are doing well with their youngsters with 8 winners from 30 runners (30%), so things look good for them for next term too. Jockey Graham Gibbons is their main man in the saddle – he’s been on 5 of their 7 recent winners. Looking at their track stats – Chester, Leicester, Lingfield (AW), Southwell (AW) and Windsor are the courses to note their runners at.
Track stats and Up-coming entries
JAMES TATE (6 winners from his last 15 runners, 40% strike-rate): In his third season this fairly new yard are making a big name for themselves. With 21 winners in 2012 they’ve already almost doubled that with 40 successes and are currently sending out the winners this season at a 22% strike-rate. With a massive 16 juveniles winners in 2013 then the future looks rosy for them too, while 33 of their 60 2 year-olds sent to post have finished in the top three. Jockey Neil Callan gets the bulk of their rides, and most of their runners will be found on the AW tracks – make a special note of any Southwell entries as they have a 39% strike-rate there. Of the turf tracks look for any Carlisle, Brighton, Catterick and Leicester runners, again, all tracks they seem to do very well at.
Track stats and Up-coming entries
CHRIS WALL (5 winners from this last 14 runners, 36% strike-rate): Often does well at the seaside tracks of Yarmouth and Brighton, and that as backed up again last week with winners at both venues. This recent purple patch could not have come at a better time as despite these winners they are still only on 11 for the season, but they generally get between 25-35 in a season so we can expect more successes on the horizon. No 2 year-old winners yet, but they’ve only had 5 runners in that age group. In terms of jockeys it’s Seb Sanders, Ted Durcan and George Baker they use the most, with George riding 4 of their 5 recent winners.
Track stats and Up-coming entries
PHILIP KIRBY (5 winners from his last 14 runners, 36% strike-rate): Based in North Yorkshire this is another of the newer yards that are fast making a name for themselves. This is their sixth full season and with 21 winners is already by far the best they’ve done. 16 of those 21 successes have been with their 4 year-olds, but also note they do have a fair amount of NH runners too. Over the sticks they sent out 25 winners in the 2012-13 season and have 6 already this jumps campaign. The bulk of their flat runners are at tracks like Redcar, Wolverhampton, but it’s at Musselburgh they do very well at – they are currently 12 from 38 (32%) at the Scottish venue.
