Stat of the Day, 23rd October 2013
The Potting Shed was a late withdrawal yesterday, so that meant we saw no action and whilst things are so unsettled, that might not be a bad thing!
I’ve hunted around for some decent stat-based advice for you this morning, but has been quite difficult with the prevalence of soft ground, unraced horses and chasers making their debut over larger obstacles etc etc!
However, I’m going with one whose trainer and jockey both do well at HQ, as I tackle the…
Where I’ve backed Anglophile at 13/2 E/W with SportingBet.
Anglophile is trained by Charlie Appleby, whose runners are 3/7 here on the Rowley course, a 42.86% strike rate generating 12.7pts (+1814% ROI) profits.
The horse will be ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, whose own record at this track is 16/74 (21.62% SR) for 140.7pts, a massive return of 190.1%.
Those figures do however contain a couple of large priced winners, but his record on horses 5/1 or under (which is where Anglophile will end up!) reads as 10 winners from 19 (52.63%) for 19.22pts (+101.2% ROI) profit.
And when this jockey and trainer have combined in the past, the record shows 8 wins and 7 places from just 33 races. The 24.24% strike rate has generated 14.86pts profit from all runners, a return of 45.03%.
Anglophile comes here seeking a hat-trick and it is expected that the extra furlong will suit him, as he tends to come a little later into the race. He won on his handicap debut at Salisbury last time out and that race has produced some decent subsequent performances from those he beat that day. His rivals from that race have gone on to record 4 wins and 3 places from 14 attempts between them.
