With the jumping action starting to hot up Andy Newton’s got 5 NH stables to look out for at the moment……

JONJO O’NEILL (6 winners from his last 12 runners, 50% strike-rate): With AP McCoy attached to the Jonjo yard then it’s this stable that will hopefully see the champ over the line in his bid for 4000 winners. They provided him with two more winners at Ffos Las on Tuesday and Novice Chaser Tarquin Du Seuil looks an exciting recruit to this division. The yard are already on a staggering 79 winners for the season and that’s just 11 shy of what they managed in 2012-13. They are currently operating at around the 23% mark, and so far have had 47 hurdles winners as opposed to 28 over fences. They’ve also had 4 winners and three seconds from just 10 NH Flat runners this season – so look out for any in that sphere. As the season hots-up look for anything they send to Cartmel – especially over hurdles as they are 3 from 5 there (60%).

EVAN WILLIAMS (3 winners from his last 9 runners, 33% strike-rate): The Welsh-based yard are starting to find their stride and look set for another decent campaign. They are on 26 winners so far and will be hoping to break the 100 winners in a season landmark for the first time this term – 90 has been their best yet on 2010-11. They are 2-from-2 with their NH Flat runners so far, so that’s something to note, while looking at their track stats pay special attention to anything they send to Fakenham, Hexham, Musselburgh and Wetherby – all venues they do very well at. They are also 9 from 20 (45%) with their chasers at Fakenham !

CHARLIE LONGSDON (4 winners from his last 12 runners, 33% strike-rate): They Longsdon yard have been really motoring of late and it goes without saying they couldn’t keep up that winning strike-rate forever. That said, they are still ticking along very nicely indeed and are now on 41 winners for the season. 69, in 2011-12, has been their best finish yet so they look like having a great chance to make this season their best so far in terms of winners. If there is a slight negative it’s that they don’t do quite as well with their hurdlers – the last 5 season have yielded a 13% strike-rate as opposed to 20% records with their chasers and NH Flat runners! They do very well at tracks like Carlisle, Bangor, Market Rasen, Musselburgh, Wetherby, Sandown, Plumpton and Southwell .

GORDON ELLIOT (4 winners from his last 12 runners, 33% strike-rate): Jamsie Hall was a nice winner for the Elliot team at Aintree last weekend, but most of their recent successes have been with their Irish runners.  They are on 28 winners in Ireland so far, with 62 being their best yet in 2010-11, while in the UK they are on 14 winners with 36 being their best yet in 2009-10. Last season in England was a bit of a blip with just 17 winners, but take that out and they have operated at over 20% every season since 2008. You’ll find the bulk of their UK runners at Perth and they’ve a 29% over record with their runners at the Scottish venue – but also look out for runners at Uttoxeter, Newton Abbot, Southwell and Sedgefield. Looking at their Irish course stats then Tramore stands out as a venue to note (22%), but do look for any hurdlers at Down Royal (21%), Listowel (21%), plus any chasers at Cork (25%), Fairyhouse (24%), Navan (24%) and Sligo (29%).

NICKY HENDERSON (3 winners from his last 9 runners, 33% strike-rate): Ok, so not totally mind-blowing stats, but you sense the feeling that things are about to explode at the Henderson yard. With the new NH season hotting up by the day and more star names starting to be seen on the track then we can expect a flurry of Henderson runners and winners in the coming weeks. They are on 28 jumps winners so far as they push towards breaking the 100 winners again – something they’ve done for the last 5 seasons (167 is their best yet in 2011-12). Long Run will be a big draw on Saturday as he looks like having his first run of the season in the Charlie Hall Chase up at Wetherby. Of their 28 winners this term a massive 20 have been over hurdles, while looking at the past 5 seasons they are 340 hurdles winners in contrast to 175 over fences.
