Scotch Warrior was a non-runner having been well backed both before and after other horses came out of the race, which was a shame as I felt he had a solid chance. Still, no damage done, and we roll onto Thursday looking to close out the month with a winner.
From the furthest northern track the last two days, I’m heading far west now, to the…
A two mile handicap, and a progressive filly towards the bottom of the weights. Annaluna has been a revelation since stepping up to two miles on the flat, where her record now reads 2341311. It seems she doesn’t like it when it’s devilishly fast (i.e. firm) ground, but on good to firm she’s 411 and that’s what she’ll encounter tonight.
She’s won three of her five starts at the two mile trip and, despite being quite exposed over hurdles, she seems still to be moving forward on the level. This is a step up from Class 5 to Class 4, but they don’t look a great – or well-handicapped – bunch, with the possible exception of the out of form Riptide, and she should take a lot of beating.
Annaluna looks likely to cut out her own running, or sit very handy if another wants to go on. That should be an ideal pace setup for her and, back on turf after an all-weather bronze last time, she’s a one point win bet at 5/2 BOG with SkyBet.
