A pretty awful week, it has to be said, as October continues to prove to be a struggle, as is often the case. It really is a difficult month to make profit, but I’m not in the business of making excuses and as such I’m disappointed with last week’s efforts.

We lost 4.37pts on the week and this has all but wiped out the previous modest profit we’d made, yet in a week where we only got one decent result, we could easily have still turned out well.

Midnight Lira just emptied out on the run in on Tuesday and although the horse was 2nd at 9/1, the margin of defeat was just half a length as we got nailed virtually on the line. Had he held on, we’d have made a small, but welcome 0.63pts over the six selections, which would have guaranteed another profitable month. We now still need at least one more winner!
