7.10 Dundalk:

A full field of sixteen means fifteen horses will be trying to knock our lass off her perch, but Slipper Orchid may just have the last laugh.

She’s a winner of four of her five races on the polytrack here, and scored over this trip three weeks ago. The step up in class has seen her beaten three times in the past, the pick of those efforts being a second place. But none of those were on the Dundalk beach, and she seems to be a seven pound better mare here.

Interestingly in such a big field, the four most likely pace horses are drawn in four of the five highest stalls, and Slipper’s tracking style should be readily accommodated with the way the race will be run.

Trainer Mick Halford has a fine record at the track, as does jockey Conor Hoban, and their filly is the second highest rated in the field, on 100.

Slipper Orchid is 11/2 with bet365, Paddy and Coral, all BOG, and that’s worth playing, win only.
