Double Dutch, 24th January 2015

No luck yesterday as the best we could do in leg one was Itstimeforapint’s third place.

We roll into Saturday and I’m tapping into some research I’ve already done for the Cheltenham TV races…

Friday’s results were as follows:

Line Daios: PU at 5/2 (adv 3/1)
Itstimeforapint: 3rd at 9/4 (adv 9/4)
——————————————
Sharjah : Won at 11/4 (adv 9/4)
Eye Of The Tiger: 2nd at 5/2 (adv 11/4)

Results to date:
467 winning selections from 1640 = 28.48%
145 winning bets in 425 days = 34.12%

Last chance to boost the coffers this week look like this…

2.25 Cheltenham:

One of the weakest looking handicaps I can remember at Cheltenham, and the favourite Easter Day looks to have a rock solid chance if he handles the track. He’s representing the in form Paul Nicholls yard, and was good enough last season to beat the RSA Chase winner, O’Faolain’s Boy. Sure to improve for his seasonal debut, I’ve backed him singly as well as in the Double Dutch.

Although I’m a bit worried about him getting involved in a speed duel, the next most likely looks to be the talented Annacotty, himself a Grade 1 winner last season when taking the Feltham Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day. He does like to lead in his races, and there are others in this field with a similar preference, but if he can sort himself out in that regard, he has more ability than most of these, and 13/2 in a place is value.

3.35 Cheltenham:

The Cleeve Hurdle should be the domain of Saphir Du Rheu, the highest rated and perceptibly the most progressive. He needs to win this if he’s to justify such lofty aspirations as claiming the World Hurdle crown, and he should run well.

But the proven mudlark and Cheltenham multiple winner is Reve De Sivola. It can’t be heavy enough for him, and with the prospect of sticky gluey ground when they lift the covers, I think he’s a value alternative at as big as 6/1.

Full thoughts on the race can be found here.
