Stat of the Day, 1st October 2015
On a bad night for Messrs. Appleby & Buick at Kempton, Carrington was awkwardly away from the stalls, conceding lots of ground and basically losing the race before it had really begun.
It sort of typified the stumbling nature of our September performance and whilst everything possible was done to make up for lost ground, both Carrington and myself fell some way short of an acceptable result.
Irrespective of Carrington’s result, Thursday marks the start of a whole new month and a clean slate etc. I always like to get the month off to a good start, as I prefer to play with other people’s money and my first tilt at the bookies in October runs in the…
Before I post the daily selection, just a quick reminder of how I operate the service. Generally, I’ll identify and share the selection in the evening before the following day’s race and I then add a detailed write-up later on that night/next morning.
Those happy to take the early price on trust can do so, whilst some might prefer to wait for my reasoning. As I fit the early service in around my family life, I can’t give an exact timing on the posts, so I suggest you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook for instant notifications of a published pick.
The race is a Class 6, open age handicap over a mile, where I’ve just taken 3/1 BOG about the 4yr old filly, Kalon Brama who comes here looking for a third win on the bounce at this track in the space of a fortnight.
Her trainer Peter Charalambous’ career record stands at 37 winners from 269 runners and the 13.75% strike rate has so far yielded 121.9pts profit at an ROI of 45.3% from 1pt level stakes. His runners are 11/82 (13.4% SR) for 35.3pts (+43% ROI) on the All-Weather with five winners from thirteen (38.5% SR) for 82.1pts (+631.2% ROI) here at Chelmsford.
Today’s jockey Marc Monaghan is 7/22 (31.8% SR) for 31.4pts (+142.6% ROI) here on this track, having also ridden three winners from six starts for Peter Charalambous here, resulting in profits of 21.3pts (+354.4% ROI).
The horse, Kalon Brama, herself has a reasonable 4/22 (18.2% SR) record that has already generated 13.8pts profit at an ROI of 62.9%, but she clearly prefers the artificial surfaces, as she’s 3/5 on the All-Weather.
All four career wins have come from six starts at this lowly Class 6 level, she’s 2/4 under Marc Monaghan and 2 from 3 here at Chelmsford.
Put those together and she’s 2 from 3 in Class 6 contests here at Chelmsford under today’s jockey, including a win over course and distance a fortnight ago. She’s well in under a penalty and despite a large field looking to take her on, I expect another big run from her on Thursday evening.
I’ve taken my 3/1 BOG on Kalon Brama with Bet365, but you can also avail yourselves of the same price from the Betfair Sportsbook, as can be seen when you…
