Stat of the Day, 12th November 2015

Wednesday’s Result :

3.00 Bangor : After Eight Sivola @ 3/1 BOG : 2nd at 3/1 (In touch, headway to join winner when hit 4 out, every chance next, held when hit 2 out, eased run-in)

Thursday’s selection runs in the…

2.00 Ludlow :

Before I post the daily selection, just a quick reminder of how I operate the service. Generally, I’ll identify and share the selection in the evening before the following day’s race and I then add a detailed write-up later on that night/next morning.

Those happy to take the early price on trust can do so, whilst some might prefer to wait for my reasoning. As I fit the early service in around my family life, I can’t give an exact timing on the posts, so I suggest you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook for instant notifications of a published pick.

Helium @ 3/1 BOG

He has finished 211 in the three handicap chases he has contested since being partnered by Rhys Flint and returning to the bigger obstacles after spending 32 months hurdling and flat racing!

He only lost by a neck on that first run back over fences and that was his first run of any kind for over five months, so it was a decent effort to get so close over 2m 0.5f at Worcester (C4, good) that day. The ground had worsened to good to soft when he returned to the same track and trip a week later and he ran out an 18 lengths winner despite easing down well before the finish.

He then ran again 12 days later (10 days ago) here at Ludlow over this very course and distance and was pretty comfortable when scoring by 4 lengths. He seemed to have plenty in hand and although he’s up in weight again, he’s actually a pound well in at the weights under a 7lb penalty and conditions are ideal here today.

He likes cut in the ground (has won on good to soft, soft and heavy), so stamina won’t be an issue and as I pointed out earlier, he gets on really well with his jockey.

Moreover, he’s trained by Alex Dunn, whose runners in the 2/1 to 10/1 bracket are 20/108 (18.5% SR) for 40pts (+37% ROI) profit to date and these 108 runners are…

  • 16/91 (17.6% SR) for 38pts (+41.7% ROI) with male runners
  • 17/83 (20.5% SR) for 48.8pts (+58.7% ROI) in handicaps
  • 15/71 (21.1% SR) for 44.1pts (+62.1% ROI) with 8 to 10 yr olds
  • 14/57 (24.6% SR) for 43.2pts (+75.8% ROI) over trips of 2m to 2m 1.5f
  • 2/4 (50% SR) for 6.42pts (+160.4% ROI) here at Ludlow

Alex Dunn’s 8-10yr old male handicappers running 2m to 2m 3.5f at odds of 2/1 to 10/1 are 11/37 (29.7% SR) for 54.9pts (+148.4% ROI).
