Double Dutch, 7th January 2016
Wednesday went the same agonising way as Tuesday had before it, two races, four runners, a winner, two runners-up, a third place, one exacta/forecast but no double!
Mr Boss Man led Pass The Time home at Wolverhampton by half a length to secure our winner for the day and an exacta at just bigger than 11/2, but Krystallite/Rosealee’s placed efforts weren;t quite enough at Chelmsford and another double slipped through our fingers.
The bottom line figures aren’t great at present, but it’s not as though we’re not getting a run for our money. I’d be more concerned if that were the case.
Tuesday’s results were as follows:
Krystallite : 2nd at 7/2 (adv 10/3)
Rosealee : 3rd at 9/4 (adv 15/8)
Mr Boss Man : WON at 7/4 (adv 7/4)
Pass The Time : 2nd at 11/4 (adv 3/1)
The Exacta paid £6.60 here.
Results to date:
773 winning selections from 2770 = 27.91%
240 winning bets in 717 days = 33.47%
P/L : +72.04pts (+5.03% ROI)
REMINDER: THERE IS NO DOUBLE DUTCH ON SUNDAYS
Sir Mark Prescott and Luke Morris form a formidable partnership in A/W handicaps and in Seychelloise, they have a runner in peak form with finishes of 122112 in her last six runs. There was no disgrace in getting beaten beaten here over 7 furlongs last time, whern getting collared very late on to go down by just a neck.
That was her first crack at this Class 3 standard and with the benefit of the experience, a month’s rest and a drop back in trip, expect another bold run from Seychelloise today at 5/2 BOG.
In opposition, we have the 11/4 BOG Mythmaker, who also just missed out in his last contest, losing by a neck over this track and trip 8 days ago. He was beaten by Boomerang Bob that day, a horse that was running in Gr2 contests as recently as 2014 and Mythmaker was giving him a pound!
There’s nothing of that calibre here, though and sent back out off the same mark, you’d have to think that Mythmaker will be there or thereabouts once again today, if reproducing that kind of effort shown last week.
Burmese Whisper might well be 0 from 9 so far, but this is a poor race and possibly his best chance to get of the mark. Recent signs are encouraging with finishes of 4232 since being paired with today’s jockey Oisin Murphy who rides this track well. He steps back up to 6f today after being outpaced over the minimum last week, but it has to be said that he was only beaten by a progressive sort witht he remainder of the field strung out behind him.
At 100/30 BOG, the market suggests this is one of Burmese Whisper‘s better opprtunities, but there is always that nagging doubt after nine races that he’s very adept at finding one (or more!) just too good on the day and it’s highly possible that the 9/4 BOG Don’t Blame Me will that such runner here today.
Don’t Blame Me is Clive Cox’s only runner of the day and his sole travellers tend to do well and this horse comes here after a narrow defeat last time out. He was just a neck away from victory at Kempton over this trip three weeks ago and despite a flat spot mid-race, ran well from a wide-ish draw. He’s got stall 2 today and although he’s not one with blistering early pace, he should at least be able to tuck in on the rail and take the shortest route.
4 x 0.5pt BOG doubles as follows…
Seychelloise / Don’t Blame Me @ 10.38/1 (5/2 & 9/4 : BetVictor)
Seychelloise / Burmese Whisper @ 14.17/1 (5/2 & 10/3 : Bet365 & Betfair SB)
Mythmaker / Don’t Blame Me @ 11.19/1 (11/4 & 9/4 : BetVictor)
Mythmaker / Burmese Whisper @ 15.25/1 (11/4 & 10/3 : Bet365 & BetVictor)
