Before I post the daily selection, just a quick reminder of how I operate the service. Generally, I’ll identify and share the selection in the evening before the following day’s race and I then add a detailed write-up later on that night/next morning.
Those happy to take the early price on trust can do so, whilst some might prefer to wait for my reasoning. As I fit the early service in around my family life, I can’t give an exact timing on the posts, so I suggest you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook for instant notifications of a published pick.
Fr Humphrey @ 7/1 BOG
With Chris away for a weekend, I’m stepping in and sailing across the Irish Sea for a crack at a handicap chase. The horse in question, Fr Humphrey, is trained by Mary Hallahan. I’ve never heard of her, and didn’t even know what her first initial stood for until I googled it, but what I do know is that she’s a force to be reckoned with at Gowran.
Her record at the County Kilkenny track in the last five years reads 1132U6215F6111461R51
That 8/20 record was worth a profit of 44.5 points, and her record in handicaps is 5/14 (36%) for 19.5 points. In chases it is 6/14 for 30 points and, putting those together, in handicap chases Miss Hallahan is four from seven, +23.00
Fr Humphrey is a winner of two of his last three races, and is reunited with Mikey Fogarty, who was on board for that brace of victories but not for the upped in class defeat last time. Indeed, he is unbeaten on the 8yo gelding, those being the only times he’s ridden.
Back down in grade and at a trip he’s won over, Fr Humphrey makes a fair amount of appeal in a race lacking depth.
So the call is…he’s a general 7/1 and I’ll take the coward’s route, and suggest an each way bet at those odds. To get a fuller picture of the market once formed, simply…
Don’t forget, we offer a full interactive racecard service every day!
