Thursday’s Result :

3.25 Limerick: Routes Choice @ 7/2 BOG 5th at 9/2 (Prominent, some slight mistakes, no impression from before straight, soon no extra and dropped to 4th near line)

No excuses for Thursday’s pick. Just not good enough. Sometimes it goes that way. Wipe our mouths and move on…

Friday’s runner goes in the…

A number of statistical elements come together here, making this fellow a fairly strong data pick.

First, Midnitemudcrabs represents the trainer/jockey combination of John James Feane and five pound claiming Gary Halpin. That partnership is four from eleven in the past five years (36.36%, profit +18.00).

With three year olds here at Dundalk they are two from four – form figures 0112 – and a profit of 6.25.

Midnitemudcrabs is making his handicap debut having won a maiden at the track over a furlong further last time, and that fact is worth checking out too. Feane is four from nine with handicap first-timers in the past year, for a whopping +36.00 profit.

On a speed and pace favouring six furlong track, the selection is drawn in one and has shown speed to lead in his last two runs. That compensates for the drop in trip and, if able to repel pace challengers through the first quarter mile, he has a chance to outstay the late runners from pole position.

He’s an each way price at 11/2, but I’ll take the chance win only for a point, with your pick of totesport, betfred, Hill, and Betfair at time of writing.
